Remet Controls has been carrying out structural integrity certification for years according to the FIA regulations (Appendix K) .
This is a mandatory certification in all FIA and CSAI (ACI Sport) historic races for sports and formula cars from the GR period onwards with engines over 2000 and in all European championships such as CER, P.MO, VdeV, SuperSport Cup, Le Mans Classic, prototypes etc.
The components on which it is necessary to carry out NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) for each vehicle are:
- all suspension arms, wishbones and tie rods
- uprights and roll-bars (ROPS)
- hubs, drive hubs (half-shaft supports) and wheel spindles
- steering arms
- steering box and column (pinion, rack and parts for the transmission of movement)
- brake pedal
- light alloy wheels or wheel flanges
- plus all possible spare parts.
The tests are performed using the Visual Inspection , Liquid Penetrant or Magnetic Particle methods .
All parts (including spare parts) will be marked, as prescribed, indelibly and uniquely with a serial number in order to precisely identify the vehicle, the progressive number, FIA code of the type of part and its position in the vehicle, month and year of the test (e.g. TTTT/NN/CCCC/MM/AA).
A mechanical marker is used (this marking is indelible and irremovable except by mechanical removal - furthermore, the marking does not alter the structural integrity of the piece).
Finally, a final test certificate will be issued which will be attached to the HTP (Historic Technical Passport).
Furthermore, according to Appendix K of the FIA Regulations , the check must be performed:
- every 2 years for F1 cars;
- every 3 years for all other cars.
Over the years, after carrying out numerous checks on racing cars, we have found that there is a high probability that specific "cracked" points at risk of breaking may occur, so for your safety we always recommend routine checks.
The laboratory is also available to investigate with the best diagnostic techniques, defects on any other component (with the Tomography Methods - Metallographic Analysis - SEM Analysis - RT - MT - PT - UT - VT - AE - GW - IR), and thanks to the experience of its technicians and consultants specialized in the restoration of vintage cars/motorcycles, to also be able to certify the authenticity of the artifacts to give greater value to your historic vehicle.
